The Public Use Program (PUP) is an instrument of planning, regulation and ordering of tourist-recreational activities developed in the Cabo Pulmo National Park (CPNP).
1. Orient and regulate the public use activities;
Cabo Pulmo National Park has monthly tourism carrying capacities in each dive and snorkel site, which is the result of technical studies and consensual agreements of the Public Use Sub-Council. In addition, this Sub-Council agreed that the Park Management will close the site or sites that reach their monthly carrying capacity and will open until the first day of the following month, this ensures that damage to the ecosystem will not be generated.
The tourism carrying capacity is the maximum number of visitors that can use a site, without causing alteration on the ecosystem or decrease the quality of visitor experience.
